Presentation on Deaf literature, Deaf culture, ASL or Deaf studies

ASL 10/20 Deaf Studies Assignment


  1. Read a chapter from a book written by a Deaf person or a picture book about a Deaf person or about Deaf culture.  You may select any book from bookshelf in the DHH resource room.


  1. Answer the following questions in English by making a 5 slide prezi presentation.  You will have to create an account at prezi.com.  Present your information in the order of the five slides provided below.  Your sentences can be presented in bulleted form but they must be complete sentences and grammatically correct.   


Presentation on book or excerpt about Deaf people, sign language or Deaf culture.

Note:  This is a guided presentation format.  You should follow the structure of this outline. This is a complex outline that reflects the work of high school students.  By the time you graduate from high school, you should be able to write one of these presentations on your own.

  1. Students enrolled in ASL 10 will present one slide in ASL and embed the video in the prezi presentation and send to joanneweber49@gmail.com.


  1. Students enrolled in ASL 20  will present whole presentation in ASL (create five separate videos that go with each slide), embed the videos in the prezi presentation and send the video to joanneweber49@gmail.com. Copy the link of the presentation (in your browser window) and paste it in the email to me.


  1. Students in pre-ASL classes will create vocabulary videos for the entire first unit (see checklists and video examples) beginning with the September entry at http://thomsign.blogspot.ca/2013/09/0102-ask-for-and-give-names.html
